Trending Now in Playrooms – Getting ready for the school year.

Well hello end of the summer…

Let me just start with…WOW (that pretty much sums up my first Summer with a child that is in “official” “real” school…with real summer vacation)

As we get ready for the new school year, I have, along with all the other parents in the world been shopping all things school supplies, shoes, sneakers, clothing, back packs and accessories. In that, in the world of A Jolie Design, Inc. I have also been doing a number of playroom “upgrades” to turn toddler playrooms into kid playrooms. By this I mean, some of our clients are removing their tee-pees and adding functional “school” areas. The mini work stations are now coming into play in anticipation of the school year and homework.

**In full disclosure, I always save a little space that can be re-arranged to add the tee-pee back for a rainy day 🙂

This all leads me to my trending topic, playroom desk chairs.

YES… The chair that goes with the desk. I have a passion for kids spaces because I absolutely love creating space for a child’s mind to explore, wander and grow. I’m a designer that loves custom kids furniture because of the fun that is in the details. In doing more kids “office areas” (I like to call them that, they are mini offices where all things school and homework are supposed to be done) I am so tickled by the chair selections I have been coming across. I can only imagine what my kids office would have looked like had these items been available when my mother shopped for my desk and chair.

My favorite right now comes from Kartell, The Lou Lou Ghost Child’s Chair. The possibilities for this small area are endless, but a small thing like the chair for a kids desk can bring all the style (while still being functional) to any kids office space.
