Color makes the world go round!

After taking some time to adjust to being a mother of two (sounds funny even saying that). I had to also start thinking of my newest addition’s nursery room.

Nora Lee, was born without us knowing her gender so I planned on the nursery being gray and blue. My thought was to add a pop of color for the gender after the baby born. Here is what I decided on.

Gray, bright blue and purple!

I’m so in love with this color palette, and the possibilities are endless for creating something that is new fresh and full of expression. As a designer it is always fun to work with mothers on their little ones spaces and help them capture the identity and personalities of their little superstars. But I must admit, it will be even more fun to create this vision for myself!

As I started the exciting process of creating my own design board for Nora Lee’s room I can’t help being full of excitement at the possibilities. That’s why design boards are so important they help us get the ideas out of our minds and on to paper.

Specializing in children interior design has brought on a realization for me. Though we want our room designs to be beautiful, lively and full of personality. What is more important than all of this is the blending of style and function.

Notice that the elements below are beautiful, but they also have a lot of space to put/hide all the chaos that comes with having children. This is so important since it’s not all the time as parents we want see the end result of our children letting their imagination run free.

As I went to one of my favorite stores for accent pieces, Pottery Barn Kids I couldn’t believe what I saw. They’re entire catalog was purples and grays. As I designer, it’s always nice to see that you are in tune with the pulse of design and the desires of clients! Seeing the colors in Pottery Barn was the pat on the back to let me know that I am on the right track! So purple and gray it is, and in true A Jolie Design style I am still using my blue! We all have our own style, and for me and I hope for you to half of the fun is finding it.

Happy Designing  J

Stay tune for updates!
