Being creative is draining. Let’s just call it what it is! Last Friday we decided to wrap up a particularly busy work week with a random field trip that turned inspirational. We locked the AJD studio door and made the trip from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami.

You have to explore to find Inspiration

The goal was to walk around the Art Deco area in South Beach, get inspired, grab lunch, enjoy the fresh air and people watching, while leaving work at work. Doesn’t this sound awesome for sunny South Florida? I totally thought so….then I woke up Friday morning to grey skies and “Florida cold” weather. Out of the window went my beach views and people/building watching.

Determined to find the silver lining in the day we ventured down to Miami and picked a different area of the beach. Perfect for shopping and lunch, minus the ocean breeze.

Finding something new

We happened upon a store I often look at online but had never visited CB2. I must say that I truly enjoyed walking through the showroom and picking up items that I have had on my “to get” list for a long time as well as items I never knew that I totally needed! One hour, two Unicorn bookends, one office project completely accessorized in the most fun way, AND all the rose gold accents I could fit in my car later…I was ready for lunch! And feeling totally inspired to continue to build the spaces that we love to create!Shoppig-at-CB2-Miami-for-insparation

After lunch our working field trip wrapped up with inspirational books at non other than Urban Outfitters (obviously this is a close second to Barns and Noble) a pit stop at Dylan’s Candy Bar. For the kids(wink wink ) and a re-charged mind-set!

I had no plan to shop for projects, or for the AJD Studio OR for all things Rose Gold (which is very trendy right now) but it turned out to be the perfect day! Complete with a “Do One Thing Every Day That Scares You” journal and a new place to add to our ever-growing interior design favorite local showrooms list!

Feeling recharged on this happy Tuesday
